Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited wins top accolade at GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026
The financial institution hosted the first carbon-neutral international financial forum amongst Hong Kong banks.
Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited has won Hong Kong Sustainability Initiative of the Year - Finance award at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026. The financial institution secured the accolade for hosting the BOCHK Green Forum 2025, an event that promoted sustainable transition and dialogue for Southeast Asia.
The forum served as a high-level connector to bridge rising sustainable finance demands in Southeast Asia with Chinese green technology and world-class financial services in Hong Kong. It brought together corporates, financial institutions, regulators, rating agencies, and research bodies to foster regional collaboration.
This initiative achieved a notable milestone by becoming the first carbon-neutral international financial forum hosted by a Hong Kong bank. Residual emissions from the event were offset through carbon credits that were independently verified by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency. Eco-friendly materials were also utilised throughout the venue to reduce emissions and promote carbon neutrality practices.
In addition, the forum served as an action platform to position Hong Kong as a connector between international capital and regional projects. The event featured the release of a unique joint research report titled “The Asian Way: Sustainable Finance Market Outlook in Southeast Asia and the Role of Hong Kong”. The publication was co-authored by the Hong Kong Financial Research Institute of Bank of China, the MSCI Sustainability Institute, and the HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute.
The forum attracted over 200 leaders from various industries across the Asia-Pacific region and over 20 senior bankers from Southeast Asian financial institutions. The event featured speakers from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Hong Kong Green Finance Association, regional banking executives, and international financial institutions.
