Thailand to implement national AI plan

Roadmap designed to improve productivity across sectors.

The Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) has handed Thailand its National AI Roadmap for the Sustainable Productivity of Industries in line with the APO Vision 2030 and the country's strategic partnership programme.

Technically supported by FutureLab, the productivity plan was jointly produced by the APO and Thailand Productivity Institute. Its targets include a 15% increase in productivity across certain sectors by 2030.

Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata (pictured right), APO Secretary-General, declared: "AI is not the objective. Productivity is."

Through a result-oriented productivity transformation system, the goal is to help businesses create more value, build stronger capabilities, and compete sustainably using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

"The defining question is no longer whether Thailand will use AI," the APO said. "It is how effectively Thailand can turn AI into productivity improvements that are measurable, scalable, sustainable, and broadly shared."

With the roadmap's implementation, at least 50,000 industrial workers and 5,000 AI specialists are expected to be certified by 2030.
