Defence Technology Institute wins two accolades at GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026
Public sector technological standards are elevated through award-winning engineering and training advancements.
Defence Technology Institute won Thailand Research & Development of the Year - Science and Technology and Thailand Training Program of the Year - Science and Technology in the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026. The dual victory highlights the organisation's dedication to national defence and security industry growth whilst boosting commercial value across Thailand's local sectors.

In its research division, Defence Technology Institute developed an Anthropomorphic Test Device (ATD) for armoured vehicle blast testing. Built in compliance with NATO AEP-55 STANAG 4569 standards, the first Thailand-made crash safety dummy measures mechanical values like force, acceleration, and momentum. The project ensures occupant survivability under blast conditions and eliminates the reliance on live subjects during actual testing.

The domestic production of the ATD provides a cost-effective alternative to expensive overseas imports. It serves the military, government, and private sectors, reducing testing costs and turnaround times. The institute operates under ISO17020 and ISO17025 certifications, which allow local vehicle manufacturers to use the issued test reports as valid references when bidding for international contracts.

Simultaneously, the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Training Centre of the Defence Technology Institute conducted the 40th class of the Remote Pilot Visual Line of Sight Multi-Rotor Aerial Vehicle Certification Course. As the first unmanned aerial vehicle pilot training programme in Thailand accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, the course combines theory, flight simulation, and real flight training over a two-week period.
The training equips civilians, academics, and government authorities with essential flight control knowledge and aviation safety regulations. Trainees gain hands-on experience in drone operations for photography, videography, and surveillance.
