Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) won Hong Kong Smart City Initiative of the Year - Community at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2026. The company secured the accolade for its Integrated Smart City Ecosystem, a unified smart campus platform driven by artificial intelligence that transforms its total 240-hectare Hong Kong Science Park and InnoParks into a human-centric innovation community, creating a thriving I&T ecosystem grooming 13 unicorns, over 2,400 technology companies, and more than 17,000 research professionals.
Building on this vision, HKSTP’s smart city journey at Hong Kong Science Park is anchored on three major aspects that work together as one integrated model.
Smart operations – effectiveness
At the heart of campus operations is SmartFM, the Smart Facilities Management platform that serves as the “digital brain” of the ecosystem. It connects core services into one AI-enabled system and drives greater operational efficiency and predictive management across HKSTP’s sites. Working in tandem with the “Robots Everywhere” strategy, SmartFM orchestrates multiple robot fleets, an intelligent patrol system, inventory and contract management, IoT integration, and work order management through unified control, enhancing coverage and responsiveness whilst reducing manual workloads and improving overall service quality for the innovation community.
Smart sustainability – social responsibility and cost savings
HKSTP advances green infrastructure, waste management, and eco-friendly mobility solutions across its campuses. These initiatives demonstrate strong social responsibility and a long-term commitment to a more sustainable future, whilst delivering significant electricity cost savings and strengthening overall environmental performance.
Smart living – vibrant and convenient community experiences
To ensure technology enhances everyday life, HKSTP places equal emphasis on Smart Living. The Park App serves as a convenient super app, creating vibrant and seamless digital experiences that integrate access, bookings, events and payments, and supporting the daily working lives of the innovation community.
