LTA to impose higher fees in 2027 in push to tighten border
From 2027, foreign cars will lose free weekday hours, whilst goods vehicles will pay $30 more monthly.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced revisions to the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and Goods Vehicle Permit (GVP) schemes for foreign-registered vehicles, as well as the introduction of ERP2 On-Board Units (OBUs).
From 1 January 2027, the VEP fee for foreign-registered cars will increase to $50 per day (from $35), and for motorcycles to $7 per day (from $4).
The fees will apply on all weekdays, excluding weekends and Singapore public holidays with the current annual 10 free VEP days and weekday free VEP hours will be removed.
The GVP fee for foreign-registered goods vehicles will rise to $70 from $40 per calendar month for permits valid from the effective date. Permits purchased before the change will remain at $40.
Foreign-registered vehicles without an OBU will pay a flat-rate ERP fee starting 1 January 2027 which are $3 per day for motorcycles and $10 per day for all other vehicles.
Owners can install the ERP2 OBU from 1 April 2026. The device will cost $158.70 (inclusive of GST) until 31 December 2026, excluding installation charges.
Installation must be carried out by authorised workshops and technicians in Singapore.
LTA will provide further details on OBU installation for foreign motorists in due course.
